Impact of globalization on higher education in north-east india: a conceptual study

From the last two decades, people are going through tremendous changes in all the areas. For some, this phase is a phase of growth and development in our society. In this era, our world has become a global village where there is interconnectedness and interdependence of the modern world through flow of goods, services, capital and information. This process of revolution is termed as Globalization. Education is an essential tool for the welfare of society or the world at large. The main function of education is to create a human being that can serve the nation and work for the improvement or development of the norms and the values that will lead a prosperous society. Globalization has a profound impact on the education in general. In north-east India too like other parts of the country, is much influenced by Globalization. In this paper, we will study about the concept of globalization and Education. We will also focus on the contribution that globalization has made on the education system of North-East India. There are some positive as well as negative impacts that are found with the awakening of globalization. The methodologies that have been used in this study are secondary sources such as books, journals, articles, internet, newspaper etc. We will also provide some suggestion that can help in removing the barriers that have been observed in our education system in north east India because of globalization.
